Electric Vertical Landing and Takeoff (eVTOL) Aircraft Infrastructure RFI

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) released a Request for Information (RFI) seeking information about eVTOL Aircraft Ground Infrastructure Requirements relating to:

  • Automated Air Taxis (AAT)
  • Automated Air Taxi Services (AATS)
  • Personal Air Vehicles (PAV)
  • On Demand Aviation (ODA)
  • Any other related technologies needed to implement and support this as an innovative alternative transportation method

The RFI is intended to query the industry to help plan for future support for eVTOL infrastructure in Ohio.

Focus: This RFI will gather information for ODOT to make decisions regarding AAT for a potential implementation along the US-33 Smart Mobility Corridor Project. ODOT is soliciting innovative research in the areas of interest related to eVTOL infrastructure requirements, including, but not limited to:

  • Vertiport (launch/recovery area) requirements
  • Communications infrastructure
  • Facilities
  • Offsets from the vertiport
  • Vertiport personnel requirements
  • Existing standards for vertiport designs
  • Electric service requirements
  • Data communications requirements
  • Noise Requirements
  • Federal regulatory impediments for implementation
  • Additional 33 corridor infrastructure requirements
  • FAA requirements
