The following events should be of particular interest to the OFRN Community.
This event will share additional information for the OFRN Round III funding RFP that was released 1/15/2018.
The Ohio Aerospace Institute and the Ohio Federal Research Network invite you to participate in this informational interactive program for local manufacturers who are currently supporting the Aerospace & Defense Industry or would like to become involved in the supply chain. Hear from Dr. John Sankovic, CEO of The Ohio Aerospace Institute, and Mr. Dennis Andersh, Director of the Ohio Federal Research Network.
We would like input from the companies as to what capabilities and needs they have to help support and grow the Aerospace sector. We will be hosting these programs in various parts of the region. We would like to keep the meetings small and interactive in an effort to create synergy and collaboration among the participants.
The Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Council is supportive of increasing the role of organizations within the State in the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) of aircraft. Ohio’s central location (500 miles to 60% of general aviation traffic) and large “aircraft population” (10,386 aircraft registered in Ohio) make it an ideal focal point for US MRO activity. With aircraft fleets rapidly aging/ the cost of replacement continues to be an important issue. Ohio already has many hidden MRO assets that are gems in the industry. Military, commercial and non-commercial services are readily available.
Additionally, Ohio’s aerospace supply network is a key asset in the expansion of Ohio’s aircraft MRO industry. Ohio’s diverse parts manufacturing and services provide unparalleled base for inventory. As the industry continues to grow in the commercial market, the need for access to quick turn parts and service will have companies looking to Ohio.
The Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) is looking to develop a strong network of Northeast Ohio companies currently working in commercial aviation MRO, link those companies to prime manufacturers and to lower tier suppliers, and to investigate the potential of the commercial MRO network to provide services to military aviation customers.
In addition, we will inform participants about the growing UAV and UAS market in the USA and how Ohio is positioned to become a major provider in the market. We will discuss what opportunities and needs that exist for local manufactures to become part of the supply chain and support the growth, as well as opportunities for research and development.
We hope you are able to join us for this program to support the needs and growth of the Industry locally and globally. There is no charge to attend this event however we do request you rsvp for an accurate count, as breakfast will be served.
