The Ohio Federal Research Network is partnering with the Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) to present the OFRN Information Session which will give an overview of the Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN) and the soon to be released OFRN Round 4 RFP for the Sustaining Ohio’s Aeronautical Readiness and Innovation in the Next Generation (SOARING 2.0) initiative.

Attendees will:

  • Gain an overview of the OFRN and OFRN’s Round 4 RFP for the Sustaining Ohio’s Aeronautical Readiness and Innovation in the Next Generation (SOARING 2.0) initiative
  • Acquire insight about the OFRN contracting process and how OFRN’s dollars and contracts work

Unmanned Systems Academic Summit – 2019 @ Sinclair Community College

The fifth annual Unmanned Systems Academic Summit is again being co-hosted by The Ohio State University and the Sinclair College National UAS Training and Certification Center to facilitate an open dialog related to ongoing activities, technologies, and trends in UAS education and research. This year, topics will cover an expanded array of unmanned systems topics, not just those focused on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

Invited experts will provide focused presentations related to their work in unmanned systems research and development, education and training, commercialization, and technology transfer covering air, ground, and water domains.

In addition to the speakers and demonstrations, the Summit format will provide ample time for networking during the provided morning breakfast break, lunch, and afternoon breaks.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in hands-on UAS simulation, indoor flight, wind tunnel, and other demonstrations during the end of the day reception in the Sinclair National UAS Training and Certification Center and UAS Indoor Flying Pavilion.

Ohio Urban Air Mobility Symposium @ Blackwell Inn and Conference Center, OSU

The event will be held on February, 27th, 2020 at the Blackwell Inn on Ohio State University’s campus, and is designed to bring together industry, academia, and government stakeholders to learn about various elements of the complex Urban Air Mobility ecosystem – including technology, policy, infrastructure, security, and business perspectives, and to better understand how Ohio can take a leadership role in this emerging market.
The day-long symposium will feature panels and speakers which address various elements of the complex Urban Air Mobility (UAM) ecosystem, including:
  • Defining UAM and its specific use cases
  • Vehicle design, enabling technologies, and certification
  • Operational challenges: airspace integration, cyber-security, and traffic management
  • Infrastructure: planning, zoning, and financing (with Public-Private Partnerships)
  • Leveraging Ohio’s research, testing, manufacturing, and early use cases for UAM
There will be plenty of opportunities for networking throughout the event, such as our lunch and post-event reception.
